30 Apr 2018

Basingstoke MP Maria Miller has nominated Venus Kan, Vocational Services Manager at Broadmoor Hospital, who lives in her constituency, for a prestigious NHS 70th birthday award, in the gift of Parliamentarians.

The Trust suggested a number of nominees to local MPs where we have sites and services, and we may yet hear that other colleagues have been nominated – although of course, as Maria Miller MP’s nominations show, the MPs have a difficult choice between the many diverse NHS services in their areas.

A number of NHS@70 initiatives will culminate in a day of celebration on July 5, the actual ‘birthday’ of the NHS. Venus will be presented with a certificate of recognition on Tuesday 8 May, together with Maria’s other NHS nominees in the Mayor’s Parlour at the Civic Offices in Basingstoke.

Venus said ‘At Broadmoor we are passionate about providing the best services to our patients using a variety of interventions to support their recovery journey. It gives me enormous job satisfaction to see how our patients progress by engaging in occupational therapy treatments and vocational activities. I am delighted and proud to be nominated for these NHS@70 awards and to attend on behalf of the AHPs in the NHS and representing Broadmoor.’

Congratulations to Venus for being nominated.
