The holy month of Ramadan starts for Muslims on Friday 26 May, and will see many of our own staff and patients undergo a period of daily fasting, plus devotion to prayer and charitable acts.
In order to show support for them during such a crucial period, our staff including Estates and Facilities, Catering, Diversity, Nutrition and Dietetics plus our OCS Catering partners have pooled their expertise to provide food, drink and an information pack for a healthy Ramadan.
In the London sites and Broadmoor, special menu selections with nutritional information are available throughout Ramadan. As well as this, in London sites, there will be a Ramadan menu for an event on 26 June. Recipes have been created by our new OCS fresh-cook head chef, Jon Bentham.
Alison Sullivan, Chief Dietitian of West London Mental Health NHS Trust’s Dietetics Service, said: “Ramadan is an exceptionally important period for our Muslim colleagues and patients and to show our understanding of this, the trust has been focussed on catering to their needs during this time. We have carefully thought through recipes and menus to nourish and renew them after they finish their fast, and will be fully supporting them.”
